These classic PlayStation games are getting a major update

A community-created update to PC emulation services has made several PlayStation classics such as Tekken, Bloody Roar, and Rival Schools excellent for online play.

Heat has taken to Twitter to publicly release an update that adds the netcode GGPO to their selection of favorite PlayStation fighting games, significantly closing the gap between players. Simply put, you and your friends will be able to play online with barely noticeable lag.

Speaking of Tekken, take a look at the recent Tekken 8 trailer!

In addition, Heat has announced that it is working with other programmers to make PSX emulation available on Fightcade, a popular service for playing retro games online. This will allow these games to be widely available to casual gamers rather than those who want to download these games individually via Github. However, there is no specific date for this yet.

Such public projects are extremely important for those who retain a love of the classics. Over time, many older games fall out of favor with their developers and publishers, who allow them to lie due to lack of profitability. Of course, we won’t see Fortnite numbers from these community revivals or netcode projects, but to keep that experience alive, it’s good to have it on hand.
