With the shortage of semiconductors, the stocks of highly prized consoles are dwindling. Here are some tips for getting valuable machinery.
The chorus is becoming familiar: next-gen consoles from Sony and Microsoft can be hard to come by for the holidays.
Finding them was a miracle last year, and this year the situation could be much worse. Supply problems, magnified by global component shortages, are expected to last.
However, there are some solutions available for the more motivated. The stocks of different stores are regularly replenished with material, and even if they run out quickly, one should not despair. “I always give people three pieces of advice,” explains Thomas, Dealabs chief marketing officer, contacted by BFMTV.
1. Track current sales as much as possible
To never miss a sale, you have to put yourself in the best possible condition. To do this, you can subscribe to various accounts and alerts. On Twitter, notifications are activated by the little “bell” found in profiles. Some accounts, like Dealabs or Chocobonplan, post all sales every day. They also have applications.
It is also possible to subscribe to email alerts from certain sites. According to Thomas, the sites that offer sales with the most regularity are Cdiscount, Carrefour, the Amazon group and Micromania.
2. Prepare your account in advance on online sales sites.
Some stores have stocks that are “physically” sold in stores, like Fnac, for example. Contacted by BFMTV, the group does not specify the regularity of the replenishment, but “there will be many quantities in stock. However, it is true that these products are in great demand,” explains the Fnac-Darty group.
For this reason, it seems better to move towards online commerce to get these items. Still, just a few minutes are enough to sell the shares.
“Stock usually runs out in 3-4 minutes, rarely more than five,” explains Thomas of Dealabs.
To make sure you don’t miss an opportunity, pre-filling your account with your delivery address and payment information can be a game changer. These can be removed once the purchase is made, for added security. The stores in question are numerous: Micromania, Cdiscount, Amazon, but also Auchan, for example.
3. Be receptive and … don’t despair
At a rate of “three or four sales” per week, Thomas estimates that it takes ten to fifteen days of delay to get a console.
“Even if there are 5,000 people in front of us in the virtual queue, we must not give up: most of the people will leave and the possibilities increase very quickly. So never let go,” insists Thomas.
Therefore, it will be necessary to be patient, but also to be particularly quick to get your hands on a console before Christmas.
The marketing manager admits that the Xbox is easier to find than its competitor at Sony. However, this repeated shortage has not prevented the Japanese giant from selling more than 13 million consoles, according to its own figures, since its launch.
Finally, with Black Friday, the offers are very likely to multiply as Christmas approaches.
Good luck !
