Here is the GfK Top Ten for the week ending April 3: Outriders, Square Enix’s new IP, reached sixth place in its first week of UK retailing. The best-selling RPG co-op shooter on PlayStation platforms, with the PS5 version accounting for 52% of sales and the PS4 edition 31%. 17% of sales were made on Xbox, but it’s important to note that the game is available as part of the Xbox Game Pass subscription service, and that data is not counted here. This is certainly a better performance for Square Enix than the new IP released last week, Balan Wonderworld, which failed to make the Top 40 (so far).
The Easter sales week provided a revival for traditional games, with FIFA 21 seeing an 81% increase in sales, taking it back to number one. The game is closely followed by Animal Crossing: New Horizons (+ 11%), then Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury (+ 16%). Last week’s new number one, Monster Hunter Rise, tumbles to fourth after a 74% week-over-week drop in sales. Mario Kart 8: Deluxe rounds out the Top 5 with a 20% sales improvement on weekdays. Meanwhile, a new wave of promotion for Ring Fit Adventure sees the Switch game back into the Top 10 in 7th place, after a 127% sales increase on weekdays. Super Mario 3D All-Stars may have been discontinued by Nintendo, but there is still some inventory left at some retailers, and the game is still in eighth after falling 56% on weekdays.
