This is not the first time we hear about Touch Screen HomePod. There have been rumors in the past and it was even thought to be the second generation HomePod that Apple released earlier this year, but that is not the case.
However, it looks like this touchscreen HomePod isn’t just a rumor. According to renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the product is currently in preparation at Apple and must be ready to launch on time first semester 2024.
More than just a smart speaker
This future HomePod will carry 7 inch touch screenand unlike the current model, this screen could serveinterface providing access to various functions. Ming-Chi Kuo talks about a device that will provide “closer integration with other Apple hardware products”, suggesting use as smart home controllerlike Google Nest Hub or Amazon Echo Show.
If Ming-Chi Kuo is right, this touchscreen HomePod could be just the thing iPad-like device which Bloomberg alluded to last January. This device, which has not yet been identified, will be intended to control the connected home and enable FaceTime calls. Moreover, it will have magnetic fasteners, allowing you to hang it on the wall.
