Sony and PlayStation plan to expand some of their franchises beyond video games and adapt them to series or bring them to movie theater screens. A clear example is the series The Last of Us, production by HBO already confirmed.
There have long been reports of a possible Twisted Metal series, a franchise created by David Jaffe. There were indications that the production would be a comedy and that a Batman actor would play Sweet Tooth, but the information has not been confirmed.
Now, thanks to a new report from Variety, we know that Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation Productions are indeed working on an adaptation of Twisted Metal. The companies will be making a series that will recover the fast paced world and crazy characters from the vehicle battle title.

The Twisted Metal series will have a lot of action and comedy
According to sources, the Twisted Metal series will bring back the iconic action of the video game franchise and mix it with hints of comedy. The project is led by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, screenwriters for Deadpool and Zombieland.
Asad Qizilbashm, director of PlayStation Productions, said he was excited about the project as they will bring back one of the brand’s most iconic franchises. The production will tell us about the life of a foreigner who is given the opportunity to improve his life.

“Twisted Metal is one of the most popular franchises on PlayStation. We are delighted to have a great team working to bring this iconic game to life for the fans, ”said the manager.
On the other hand, we know that Michael Jonathan Smith, screenwriter and producer of Cobra Kai, will be executive producer and will be in charge of part of the story. Reese and Wernick will also be producers with Will Arnett, Marc Forman and Peter Principato of Electric Avenue and Artists First.

There are reports that Arnett could play the voice of Sweet Tooth, but this is not fully confirmed. We will have to wait to know more details about this production.
