Two Years Later: Top 10 Xbox Series Games

In case you haven’t heard, the Xbox Series recently turned two years old. To celebrate, we’ve put together a list of recommendations that showcase the best of the platform. Read on and find something to try and celebrate in style.

Noose of death

“If you fail at first, die, die again. From the creators of the acclaimed Dishonored Arkane Lyon series, Deathloop is a fast-paced, fast-paced first-person shooter where players take on the role of an assassin who uses the environment, time, and actually kills it to their advantage. Famed for its innovative level design, Deathloop is as hard as it is fast. Destroying guards, targets, and even other invading players with speed and style, Deathloop is a unique FPS game that rewards players for thinking outside the box and making quick decisions.

Rogue Legacy 2

The sequel to Cellar Door Games’ beloved Rogue Legacy, Rogue Legacy 2 expands on the elements of the original platformer, delivering a more robust and fast-paced experience. As the name suggests, legacy is key to this roguelike, as the children of your fallen adventurers will be their successors and so on. With each death, the family tree gets weirder and (hopefully) more powerful until you’re left alone, the strongest in the kingdom. With a huge variety of classes, styles, maps and loot, as well as deep knowledge, Rogue Legacy 2 is an indie hit with tons of replayability.

Halo Infinite

No list of Xbox games would be complete without Halo. The latest title from 343 Industries, it follows the Master Chief after the rise of Cortana and the rise of a new enemy faction known as the Exiles. Set in the beautiful semi-open world of Zeta Halo, the game greatly advances the Halo saga and expands on the core gameplay of the series. As for the multiplayer game Infinite (which, by the way, is completely free), it takes away the complex and much-maligned system from Halo 5 Guardians, returning to what makes Halo a great game. With plenty of action-packed throughout the year and plenty of cosmetic loot to earn, it’s a truly fun, endlessly replayable experience that stands on its own feet and moves into the future with confidence.

Forza Horizon 5

Set in a beautifully designed fictional Mexico, Forza Horizon 5 is elegant, sleek, and fast-paced. With loads of iconic cars to unlock, visit and race, it sticks to what makes the Forza Horizon series great. Every inch of the massive map and every vehicle is visually stunning, and it’s clear that refining the big stuff from the Horizon series is the name of the game in this sequel. Every aspect has been improved and expanded from creation to multiplayer, ultimately resulting in a deep and rich game that is truly a giant in the racing genre.

Microsoft Flight Simulator

This may seem like a strange choice, but hear us out. Microsoft Flight Simulator is simply breathtaking. One of the most accurate simulations ever made, MFS simulates the real world in stunning detail. Not just an airplane, or even the range of the Earth itself, MFS really goes above and beyond and displays the weather in real time. The quality and scope of MFS cannot be underestimated, and if you’re looking for a realistic flight simulator, this might be the best.

Psychonauts 2

Playing as the budding psychonaut Razputin Aquato, Double Fine’s Psychonauts 2 puts players at the center of a conspiracy that threatens to destroy the organization from within. Raz must unravel the clues, prove himself, and put an end to the plot before the evil Maligula makes his gruesome return to the world of the living. A whimsical adventure platformer with an incredibly unique art style and a compelling comic story, this is an original ride you won’t want to miss.

Plague Tale: Requiem

Continuing the events of A Plague Tale: Innocence, A Plague Tale: Requiem follows Amicia and Hugo as they attempt to restore some semblance of a home and leave the ruins of the Rats behind forever. Unfortunately for them, they quickly return to danger and must once again follow the stories and legends for an ever-elusive marvel of safety. Fast-paced and gritty action-adventure Requiem once again demonstrates the beautiful and tragic storytelling that Asobo Studio has become famous for with the Plague Tale series.

He takes two

The award-winning game Hazelight It Takes Two is one of the standout releases of recent years and truly stands out in the co-op game genre. You and your partner play the role of a couple whose marriage is falling apart, and you’re on a magical adventure through which they rediscover their love for each other – hopefully in time to mend their family. An emotional adventure with extraordinary variety and at the same time the quality of the level design, this game has something for everyone, and the overall storytelling and art is really something special.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

The latest installment in Ubisoft Montreal’s iconic Assassin’s Creed franchise, in which players take on the role of Eivor, the leader of a Viking clan and warrior. Sail, plunder and grow your colony and legend from the icy waters of Norway to the fertile shores of England, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is a wonderful journey with incredible depth. With deep role-playing mechanics, brutal and fast-paced combat, and a rich, vibrant world that supports it all, this is a must-play for longtime Assassin’s Creed fans and those new to the series.

ancient ring

It was almost inevitable, to be honest. Creative titans Hidetaka Miyazaki and George R.R. Martin, FromSoftware and Bandai Namco created the ultimate Soulsborne title and expanded the storytelling depth of video games as a whole. The relentless and fantastic Elden Ring game is a must for all gamers. Set in the beautiful Lands Between after being plunged into chaos by an event known as the Sundering, players take on the role of a humble Tarnished One, dead but alive. With a wonderful variety of gear and skills, your Tarnished will feel truly unique. Expelled, you must return to the Lands Between to become a demigod slayer and restore order to the Great Will; become the Elder Lord.

Well, that concludes our list. Hopefully one of these gems has caught your attention either for the first time or for a well-deserved revisit. Be sure to leave a comment to let us know your experience with them, or flag some selections we may have missed. Happy (belated) Xbox Birthday.
