Uber reopens ride-sharing service in Paris

Uber Pool is dead in 2020, long live Uber X Share. VTC relaunched its general shopping service on August 25 under this new name after suspending it in March 2020 during the first lockdown. Already reactivated in some American cities, it is only returning to Paris for the moment. The capital was the first European city to benefit from this.

Uber says customers will be able to save up to 30% on the cost of their trip. On average, the savings should be 10% compared to an Uber X (classic) ride. The longer the deviation from the direct route, the greater the savings.

new opportunities at the beginning of the school year

Uber X Share reserves its rides for customers traveling alone in the same destination. The maximum number of carpool passengers is limited to three. Under US terms of service, a detour must not exceed eight minutes.

Uber Pool was launched in 2014. The service was especially liked by the 18-34 age group, which makes up 56% of users, recalls BFMTV, who often make night trips from Paris to the suburbs. Its reactivation through Uber X Share has already taken place in several American cities last June, and at the end of 2021 – in several cities in the African and Australian continents.

Uber France is also announcing a new premium option at the start of the school year at Le Parisien, allowing users to make a hard booking. Users have indeed experienced late cancellations for several months due to an insufficient number of drivers and new options to allow them to choose their trips. The VTC platform will also compensate these customers for apology emails containing promotional offers.
