UP Bridge the Gap Robot Development Kits

Robotics development and deployment can be very time consuming, and to make this process easier, UP Bridge the Gap engineers have created two new robot development kits through a partnership with Intel. The two new robot development kits feature 11th Gen Intel Core processors with Iris Xe graphics and the latest Intel Atom x6000E series processors for a combination of performance and power efficiency.

Designed to provide developers with a complete package, robot development kits come with a compute and vision block, a motion control block consisting of a motor control board, motors and wheels, and Intel Edge Insights for autonomous mobile robots (Intel EI for AMR) to enable integration software and hardware. “Each component works seamlessly together to reduce evaluation and development time,” say its creators. Robot Development Kits provide a prevalidated AMR platform to accelerate the deployment of ROS2 based AMR applications.

“We have developed an endtoend solution so customers don’t have to start from scratch,” said Daniele Cleri, Senior Software Architect for AI and IoT at AAEON Europe. “Hardware and software are already integrated into the kit, making it easy for developers to get started. Customers can start with a working robot with core features already implemented. They can then easily customize the robot for their specific use case and start deploying it right away.”

“Developers can choose between two compute units for the robot development kit: UP Xtreme i11 or UP Squared 6000. For high performance and AI applications, developers can choose the UP Xtreme i11 robot development kit powered by 11th Gen Intel Core processor. processors with Iris Xe graphics. Developers can choose the UP Squared 6000 Robotic Development Kit powered by the latest Intel Atom x6000E series processors for impressive power efficiency and extended battery life. “

“The Intel RealSense Depth Camera D435i has an inertial measurement unit (IMU) inside that opens the door to elementary SLAM and tracking applications, providing better point cloud alignment. The IMU allows applications to refine location information in any situation where the robot is moving.”
