US: Fiat Chrysler to pay $300 million to settle ‘Dieselgate’ dispute

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The US division of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) was ordered on Monday to pay nearly $300 million in damages to settle a decades-old dispute with the US Department of Justice over fraudulent emissions standards for diesel vehicles.

The decision comes after FCA, now part of the Stellantis Group, pleaded guilty in June to criminal conspiracy for trying to circumvent emission standards for Ram and Jeep models in the United States.
