United StatesJohnny Depp is selling his art for more than 3.5 million euros
The American actor sold prints made by himself on Thursday for more than 3.5 million euros.
American actor Johnny Depp sold his collection of Hollywood and rock star prints on Thursday for around £3 million (more than $3.5 million) through a British gallery. On Thursday, Depp posted on Instagram that prints made from computer-generated images are being sold online at Castle Fine Art, which operates a chain of galleries in the UK.
The gallery said the print collection, titled “Friends and Heroes”, was “a testament to those he knew well and those who inspired him.” The gallery quoted the actor as saying, “My paintings surround my life, but I kept them to myself and limited myself. Nobody should ever limit themselves.” The prints feature, among others, Bob Dylan, Elizabeth Taylor, Al Pacino or Keith Richards.
The gallery said its website, which has 780 pieces for sale, was flooded with inquiries. Buyers, in particular, paid around 17,800 euros for a set of four framed prints, or 4,700 euros for a single print. In June, the actor won ten million dollars in a libel suit against his ex-wife, 36-year-old actress Amber Heard. Amber Heard filed an appeal.
