Initially scheduled for June, Vasil’s rollout to Cardano will finally take place on September 22nd. This is the most significant update ever launched on the blockchain.
In a tweet on Friday, Cardano’s publisher Input Output Global revealed that after successfully completing various tests, Vasil will be deployed to the mainnet on September 22, 2022.
Vasil is Cardano’s biggest update, delivering increased network bandwidth and reduced transaction costs. The update will also bring improvements to Plutus, allowing developers to create more powerful and efficient applications based on the blockchain,” the company said, noting that most cryptocurrency exchanges are ready to support the update today.
The rollout was originally scheduled for June. Vasil was conceived by the developers of Input Output Global as well as “the entire Cardano community” through the submission of improvement proposals (CIPs).
Incidentally, the name of the update refers to a member of the Cardano community who passed away last year: Vasily Sent-Dabov.
