“Disrupted by our presence – currently around fifty police officers every day – traffickers have targeted traffic at the gate,” said police commander Bernard Dalverny at a news conference. Cavaillon, and in particular the town of Doctor-Ayme, have been under close police surveillance for several months, after several reckoning and shootings. The police were notably reinforced by CRS.

Dalverny. According to the first elements of the investigation, the delivery men operated using rental cars, which changed every “two or three days”. They made “an appointment with the clients in a quarter of an hour, in a somewhat deserted place, then they changed places again by phone, a few minutes before.”

The customers, 65 of whom have already been heard by the police, contacted the delivery men on “various phone numbers that were passed by word of mouth”: to better deceive the police, the traffickers took on the “voice of a woman” in the phone, Bernard Dalverny added.

The drug sold was “mainly cocaine,” according to the police, in quantities ranging from half a gram to ten grams, “at 60 euros per gram.” The police estimate that in a single phone number, 2,800 customer contacts were made each month, and up to 320 customers contacted, generating more than 126,000 euros in revenue. The arrest in flagrante delicto in Plan d’Orgon (Bouches-du-Rhône), a town on the border with Cavaillon, entailed the seizure of a “small quantity of cocaine” (50 grams), 18 kilos of cannabis resin, 35,000 euros in cash . and a jet ski worth 25,000 euros bought a week before in cash.

The detained people, aged between 25 and 30, were known to the police. Among the clients, lamented the commissioner, “few repented”: “it really worries everyone, from the employee of a retirement home to the head of a company.” At the end of September, a young man was shot and killed in broad daylight in this town of Doctor-Ayme en Cavaillon, just months after a motorist succumbed to gunfire in April in the same area.
