This association organized an esports tournament for the elderly during the Japan Expo. Through this initiative, she aims to limit the feeling of loneliness among older people and break the monotony of their daily lives.

“It allows me to get out of my comfort bubble at the same time to play with people more or less talented than me, that’s for sure.” Thanks to the Silver Geek association, several seniors were able to take part in the Japan Expo, which was held from July 14 to 17 in Paris. Entering a video game competition is an opportunity for seniors to discover a new activity and overcome their loneliness.

On the occasion of Japan Expo, the participants were pleased with the esports tournament organized by the Silver Geek association. After a few practices, it’s a big day for Evelyn, Christian, Catherine and Elian, who represent the Val d’Oise in the competition. “I played video games for the first time 3 months ago and since then we’ve had a few workouts, 5 in total, in a group and a bit alone at home, that’s all. And then we got a little better, ”explains the participant. Chocobo, host and host of the tournament, talks about the benefits of video games for the elderly. “These are people who are often, unfortunately, a bit lonely. Their day is a bit redundant. There are only things they don’t understand because this is not their generation. And yet they give their all, they train, and there they experience an exceptional moment and leave with a smile.
