Video game: Beijing grants NetEase first license in 14 months

On a global scale, it is time for consolidation and acquisitions in this sector.

Earlier this year, Microsoft bought US publisher Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion, while Japan’s Sony paid $3.6 billion to buy US-based Bungie.

NetEase Games, for its part, last month acquired, for an undisclosed sum, the entire independent French studio Quantic Dream, which created the upcoming adventure game Star Wars Eclipse.
