Video games: kill the bad guys

Forget about cute and friendly games with sophisticated settings. Because clicking on a controller is also used to blow off steam and forget about the annoyances of everyday life. Orientation, therefore, towards titles that, of course, require a minimum of strategy, but above all to kill the bad guys to save a city, a planet or a universe.

Now that I think about it, one of the first shooter titles was … “Space Invaders” in 1978, in which we simply shoot at spaceships to prevent them from invading the world. Then, with the help of technological advancements, games have been vastly improved, thus offering “gamers” richer and more immersive environments.

As for first-person shooters, the classic of the genre is undoubtedly “Wolfenstein 3D” in which you have to kill Nazis. Now available for free to web browsers, the first game has barely aged a bit and it’s still a lot of fun to shoot anything that moves and is dressed in a swastika uniform. Nostalgic PC owners will also appreciate the availability, at low prices, of all titles in the franchise through the Steam service.

Another classic, but this one that is constantly renewed: “Doom”, in which you will have to kill legions of monsters out of hell with many weapons and ammunition in order to progress. Players will be delighted to know that the latest version, released in 2020 and called “Doom Eternal”, includes “Fortress of Doom” in which it is possible to obtain additional weapons and armor and a weapon., Unmaykr, is acquired after completing with successful particularly complex missions.

Small step back in time with “Max Payne”, famous for its integration of “bullet time”, that is, a slowdown in the moment of the exchange of shots. Here you play as Max, a former cop falsely accused of murder. You find yourself having to escape from the underworld and the police … all obviously killing all those people who want to hurt you.

If you want a game that requires your tactical and strategic skills, the “Splinter Cell Blacklist”, developed by Ubisoft Toronto, offers you to kill the bad guys … for a good cause, if I may say so. In fact, you play as Sam, a secret agent, tasked with infiltrating and eliminating terrorist cells. Always on the side of Ubisoft, but this time from its Parisian studios, “Ghost Recon Breakpoint” offers you to eliminate former soldiers of the special forces who have become renegades. Through an impressive open world, here you will also have the opportunity to think (a little) before starting to shoot.

And finally, what would be a good launch without Duke Nukem, a franchise named after this muscular, cigar-smoking hero, the epitome of a masculinity today (thankfully) obsolete. The latest game, “Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary World Tour”, released in 2016, is still available for PC. In this title, you will find five Duke adventures, hyper-violent as it should be, as well as a new weapon, an incinerator, that allows you to roast the evil “aliens”. Yes, relief is guaranteed.

The waste of (useful) time of the week.

This little free online game, therefore for browsers, is called “Crazy Shooters 2”. Obviously, with such a name, one should not expect great military tactics or even great art. The principle is extremely simple: you have to kill the members of the opposing team. You can join an existing team or open a play area where you will invite your friends to join you. It’s “brainless”, the simplistic music adds a bit of extra drama and we laugh like a “gang”.
