Meta has announced that the 2020-launched Facebook Gaming app will disappear on October 28th. The app was actually trying to compete with video game streaming giant Twitch. “You will still be able to find games by going to the Games tab in the Facebook app,” the company said in a statement.

After two years of existence, Meta has announced the closure of Facebook Gaming. Launched in 2020, this video game app will be removed from online stores on October 28th. There were games, discussion forums, and live streams to watch Internet users play. The information was made public in a statement posted by Corey Michael on Twitter. This streamer, known by the pseudonym Gothalion, was one of the most famous on the platform.

Compete with Twitch

“Despite this news, our mission to connect gamers, fans, and content creators through the video games they love has not changed. You can still find games, streamers, and groups by going to the Games tab in the Facebook app,” – the message says.

The app actually wanted to compete with the powerful Twitch platform, Amazon’s platform, the leader in video game streaming. In vain.
