Video games: Washington wants to block the takeover of Activision Microsoft

Earlier this year, Microsoft announced it would acquire the publisher of the popular Call of Duty video game series for $69 billion.

The US antitrust authority, the FTC, filed a complaint Thursday, Dec. 8 to block Microsoft’s $69 billion takeover of Activision Blizzard, the publisher of successful video games like Call of Duty.

If the deal goes through, “the Xbox maker will gain control of top-tier franchises, allowing it to cripple competition in high-end gaming consoles and subscription services.” agency in a press release.
