Ubisoft will open a fifth video game creation and development studio in Quebec in the city of Sherbrooke.
Ubisoft explains its decision thanks to Sherbrooke’s pool of talent and experience, as a university city and regional economic center.
The company says it plans to invest in the next generation in Quebec and attract talent from around the world in the digital arena.
“The studio will bring together a multidisciplinary and diverse team of professionals from various areas of expertise, including production management, programming, graphic design, modeling, animation and game-level design,” says Ubisoft.
According to the company, “Ubisoft Sherbrooke will co-develop some of the Group’s main franchises and contribute to the development of the latest innovations in the field of entertainment and technology.”
The Ubisoft studio in Sherbrooke will be managed by Nathalie Jasmin.
According to the Minister of Economy and Regional Economic Development of Quebec, “many young companies here will be able to benefit from Ubisoft’s experience and take advantage of its networks” and “it is the entire ecosystem linked to video games that will be the winner.”
