At Taverneux, it is now possible to fill with organic CNG (compressed natural gas). An anaerobic digestion unit works thanks to the treatment of slurry and manure. It is the first site in Belgium to provide complete energy independence (electricity, heat and Bio-CNG) thanks to biomethane.
The small gas station that has just opened next to the farm can supply about twenty cars a day. It also attracts passing heavy vehicles, all too happy to be able to refuel in this still poorly served region. According to Le Soir, operator Eric Jonkeau is also in negotiations with a company to install charging stations for electric cars with electricity from its facility. Then the cycle would be complete.
