Recently, artificial intelligence imagined what the last selfies taken by people during the end of the world will look like. The terrifying images were created by an artificial intelligence system called DALL-E.
The images posted to TikTok by an account known as Robot Overlords show creepy, disfigured human-like characters. One image shows a scratched face against a backdrop of bomb explosions, while another shows a zombie-like figure against a backdrop of smoke.
DALL-E, the artificial intelligence system that created these scary images, is based on the GPT-3 model created by OpenAI. GPT-3 is an autoregressive language model that can reproduce human conversations, stories, and poetry using a deep learning method. DALL-E is a 12 billion GPT-3 parameter that uses deep learning and creates images based on input text.
The AI was asked to create what it thought the last selfie a human would take on Earth would look like. The images, despite not having any credibility, still evoke an eerie feeling in viewers. Netizens showered the images with many different reactions. “Okay, don’t sleep anymore,” one user said, according to the New York Post. Another said, “That’s the way it will be.”
DALL-E was developed and launched by OpenAI in January 2021. More than a year later, in April 2022, the platform announced DALL-E 2, an updated version of the artificial intelligence system. An image generator can give any idea written as text a visual form.
The designer’s control over an image depends on how the caption is written or worded. Behind the verdict is the work of AI. With DALL-E, you can also set the viewing angle, viewing distance, and colors of objects in the image.
