When Elon Musk mocks Lucid Motors on Twitter

Lucid Motors has announced that it is lowering its 2022 production target from 20,000 to 12,000 units, 14,000 vehicles less than planned. The American manufacturer is once again rethinking its plans and is announcing only 6000-7000 Lucid Air this year.

In the second quarter of 2022, the manufacturer registered just 679 vehicles, much less than rival Tesla, which sold 254,695 vehicles in the same period. Elon Musk publicly mocked Lucid Motors via Twitter: “I had more kids in my second trimester than they built cars!”

Elon Musk is now the father of nine children, including two twins born in November 2021, who he had with Siobhan Zilis, a senior executive at Neuralink.

Lucid Motors is having a difficult time due to “emergency supply chain and logistics issues.” The company produced just 360 vehicles in the first quarter, compared to 1,405 Lucid Air vehicles in the first half of 2022. Due to the decline in production, the manufacturer reported revenue of only $100 million.

But the company remains optimistic and claims to have received 37,000 orders from Lucid Air. She also would like to quickly bring her Gravity SUV to market, which will allow her to breathe and make herself financially healthy. Lucid Gravity is expected to be unveiled by the end of 2023.

It is also worth remembering that the state fund of Saudi Arabia owns 62% of the capital of the American automaker. The Saudi government has ordered 100,000 vehicles over the next 10 years. Moreover, Lucid Motors is to open a new manufacturing center in Saudi Arabia. The manufacturer plans to fulfill this order by delivering between 1,000 and 2,000 vehicles next year and then moving up to 4,000/7,000 vehicles per year from 2025.
