WoW Burning Crusade Classic: Our Guide to Gruul’s Lair

News tip WoW Burning Crusade Classic: Our Guide to Gruul’s Lair

The Burning Crusade has returned to World of Warcraft Classic since the beginning of June and allows millions of nostalgic gamers to rediscover one of Blizzard’s most famous MMORPG expansions. On that occasion, here’s our guide to Gruul’s lair.

Available since June 1st on PC, World of Warcraft Burning Crusade Classic also brings up to date the dungeons and lairs that made the heyday of the expansion almost fifteen years ago.

Gruul’s Lair is a raid at 25 available at The Burning Crusade launch. This place is the lair of Gruul the Dragon Slayer, leader of the last Gronn and master of the Ogres of Outland. You must reach at least level 65 to gain access to the raid, but it is recommended to be at level 70 to put the odds in your favor.

This raid will make you face two bosses, High King Maulgar and Gruul the Dragonslayer himself, which will allow you to obtain T4 Pauldrons and Leggings. Access to the lair is in the territory of the Blade’s Edge Mountains where you will need to have previously completed a questline related to the Sons of Gruul. So we explain to you how to overcome Gruul’s lair:

Defeat High King Maulgar

High King Maulgar is the Lord of the Council of Ogres in Gruul’s Lair. He is accompanied by four members of the council who must all be killed if you want to win the confrontation. This board is made up of Blindeye the Seer, Olm the Summoner, Krosh Brasemain and Kiggler the Crazy. Each of them has their own attributes and it is advisable to kill them in this exact order. To tank, the ideal composition is to assign the Mage to Korsh thanks to his ability. Theft of Spell, the Warlock in Olm thanks to his Demon enslavement, while the Druid will be preferable against Kiggler using his Moonkin Form. Finally, prefer your off tank against Blindeye and the main tank against Maulgar.

Once you’ve got rid of the adds, your fight against Maulgar takes place in two phases, from 100% to 50% of its life, then from 50% to 0%. The key to defeating High King Maulgar lies in the positioning of the sweater during the fight. In phase 1, Maulgar will only use Whirlpool, Arc Strike, and Mighty Blow. When Maulgar reaches 50%, he immediately uses his Burst ability which increases his damage and attack speed. With his Intimidating Roar, coupled with Whirlwind, Maulgar will randomly target a player in your raid. To avoid this, it is advisable that a tank provokes the boss to move him away from the raid and save you many losses.

Defeat Gruul the Dragon Slayer

WoW Burning Crusade Classic: Our Guide to Gruul's Lair

Gruul the Dragonslayer is a giant Gronn that you can fight in a single phase and without adds. Its capabilities include Landslide, Fel Energy Ray, Growth and Shatter. Gruul deals heavy damage to your entire raid and this clash can go on for a long time, from 5 to more than 10 minutes.

Healers and ranged damage raiders will need to spread around the room the most because of the important Gruul hit box. Likewise, you should always get more than 30 meters away when performing melee attacks. Namely that Gruul is growing every 30 seconds and that it will regularly cause landslides in random areas. You will therefore have a balance to find between dodging and attacks throughout the fight.
