Game news Xbox: 7 games to watch in December 2022
Published on 06/12/2022 at 17:15
If 2022 leaves some very beautiful video games in its wake, December still has a few potential surprises, even though it’s not the busiest of the year. Xbox One or Xbox Series owners, get excited because some very exciting games are coming soon. It happens below.
- Callisto Protocol
- Need for speed without limits
- Marvel Midnight Suns
- Physical Edition Cuphead
- Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion
- High quality of life
- black tail
It’s undoubtedly one of the most anticipated games of the end of the year that we’ve been hearing about for many months now: The Callisto Protocol is a brand new game from Glenn Schofield, the preeminent developer of the Dead Space franchise. Call of Duty. It was in 2019 that the American created the Striking Distance studio with the goal of returning to the roots: to horror and science fiction. Here we play Jacob Lee, a pilot who, against his will, finds himself imprisoned in the Dark Iron, a very rustic prison set on Callisto, a dead moon of Jupiter. Already a hostile environment, and yet: that was without taking into account the Biophages, those ugly and super-aggressive monsters that roam the corridors and infect all passers-by. Jacob – also embodied by Josh Duhamel, a famous movie star – will have to get out of there at all costs and, as they say, it will not be easy. So we return to what made Dead Space a reputation in its time: exquisite sound design, dastardly enemies, a spatial atmosphere full of unrest, a fully real-time interface, and even conventional game mechanics. Be warned, however, this is a title with extreme violence and gore, to the point that Japan has abandoned it. This is not for everyone, especially since the atmosphere promises to be really psychologically oppressive.

Need for speed without limits
Finally! After a few years of absence (and it probably was necessary), the Need for Speed saga returns with a brand new episode of Unbound. And this time around, Criterion Games, the famed British studio behind the epic (and belated) Burnout saga, is in charge. This time around, the firm decided to go back to its roots, building on an early 2000s formula with a touch of modernisation: clean street racing, meticulous tuning, extensive performance tuning and a lot of street art fun. We find, for example, A$AP Rocky at the top of the bill (who even made the sound for the game) and a whole graffiti vibe: the art direction is particularly unique as it mixes photorealism with “cartoon” effects that come to dress up for all occasions. Quite an explosive cocktail for Need for Speed, which will obviously offer several types of events, as well as the return of the cops. The developers also promise us less aggressive police officers, because. including specific ways to overcome depending on the cars. For now, this new cuvée looks frankly promising, and we’d be too late not to keep an eye on it: this time around, the time for a real return in good and proper shape to Need for Speed may finally be here. .

Marvel Midnight Suns
Another Marvel game, yes, but this one has the will to make a difference and should succeed in its bet: Marvel’s Midnight Suns isn’t a superhero game like the others, despite its Avengers look. This is not about traditional action software, but about an action tactical game with XCOM sauce, and for good reason: these are the same developers, namely the very talented studio Firaxis (also behind Civilization). As such, we use a well thought-out turn-based system with smooth card mechanics for battles, full strategies and ultra-thin gameplay where each character has their own abilities. And this time there will be many characters: Spider-Man, Wolverine, Doctor Strange, Blade, Ghost Rider, Captain Marvel, Wanda, Iron Man, Captain America… This is a real five-star cast that will be formed to face the great villainess Lilith, who is also will find himself favored by other supervillains like Venom. No, really, when you love Marvel, Marvel’s Midnight Suns has a strong case to make, and a priori it has every chance of offering a refreshing experience in the video game landscape. Hence for observation.

Physical Edition Cuphead
Let’s put it this way: Cuphead isn’t new. It was even released in 2017 and so it has had enough time to be known to players, it has also built a solid reputation over the years and has even been adapted into a Netflix series. However, its format has always been digital only, and so its boxed appearance deserves to be included in this article: be aware that this physical version will contain the (still happy) game as well as its most recent expansion, The Delicious Last Racing , was acclaimed by critics. The treat will also include a reversible jacket, six collectible cards, and a Cuphead membership card.” Small bonuses that may encourage some to purchase physics software.

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion
Square-Enix can be proud of the Final Fantasy franchise, and in this game, we can consider Final Fantasy VII to have its own saga. Take our word for it: this seventh opus is clearly not finished for people to talk about, as in addition to the remake sequel, the game’s prequel will get a real overhaul in December called Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII Reunion. It was originally a PSP game released in 2007, but here the Japanese publisher will offer it in the ultimate version with modern graphics: new 3D models, new musical arrangements, a new engine, full voice acting and modernized gameplay. Something that will appeal to fans as well as newcomers. Recall that the action takes place before the events of Final Fantasy VII (more precisely, seven years before) and traces the journey of Zack Fair, belonging to the elite Shinra firm, SOLDIER. We will see some famous faces like Aeris, Cloud, Tifa or even Sephiroth. In short, if you like the gaming world, you’ve come to the right place and this remake is undoubtedly one of the biggest releases of the end of the year.

High quality of life
High on Life has a lot to arouse curiosity, first of all, with its completely crazy universe, which is definitely worth a look: the game came to us from Justin Rolland, no more and no less than the creator of Rick and Morty. Truth be told, there are a lot of similarities between the two franchises, starting with this absurd world and this adorable WTF humor that more than one player should enjoy. So we’re in a third-person shooter where you play as a bounty hunter: equipped with a talking gun (yes) and that even looks you straight in the eye in the middle of the game, you’ll have to stop an alien race that has decided to turn living beings into hard drugs . There you can see the concept and the second degree that the developers from Squanch Games want to get! As such, it’s an FPS with a strong art direction, very colorful and with a constant sense of humor, while at the same time wanting to get nervous with a lot of different enemies and strange bosses. Everything we love. Note that this is a Microsoft exclusive, which is unfortunately quite rare in 2022 and therefore deserves our full attention.
You may be familiar with the legend of Baba Yaga, a story from Eastern Europe: here it is about talking about it in a video game. Moreover, the player glides in the shoes of a young girl accused of witchcraft and who, after being sent into exile, will turn into a real hunter with ruthless abilities. So Blacktail immerses us in a bucolic adventure in the middle of a forest where this unparalleled vision of a Slavic legend will lead to a subjective experience. Thus, the heroine will be able to wield a bow and magic like no other, and will go to meet the spirits of her past with maximum courage. In particular, there will be several options that allow us to turn our heroine into a benevolent witch protecting the forest, or into a real evil entity that spreads terror. An atypical game developed by the Poles from The Parasight and published by Focus Entertainment.
