Xbox Cloud Gaming Multiplies Game Hours

Little by little, the Xbox Cloud Gaming service makes itself felt. And you can see it on the Microsoft dashboard: Katherine Gluckstein, the platform’s product director, reported that the number of hours used for the service has increased by… 1800% compared to last year! Huge figure, but we assume usage must have been fairly modest at the time.

The rollout of the game streaming service really accelerated in June 2021 when it finally arrived on iOS as a web app. The platform is now available on iOS and Android, macOS and PC, Xbox, and even some connected Samsung TVs, according to an agreement between the two companies.

If access to the catalog of games requires a Game Pass Ultimate subscription for €12.99 per month, Microsoft also wants to lure indigent gamers by offering them the opportunity to play for free. So in early May, Fortnite introduced this new free formula that allows you to play Epic’s Battle Royale game on iPhone and iPad.

In the latest quarter, the publisher also announced that Fornite has attracted more than 4 million players to Xbox Cloud Gaming. A few weeks ago, Microsoft indicated that over 10 million users were playing on the service.
