Xbox fans, here’s a virtual museum for the console’s 20th anniversary

Microsoft has just opened a very special museum, completely virtual, dedicated exclusively to its Xbox console, combining all generations.

November 15 marked the console’s anniversary with Microsoft’s green logo, which the company has been celebrating with great fanfare ever since. As an icing on the cake, Microsoft just announced the opening of a museum totally dedicated to your Xbox console… and totally virtual. In this museum, 20 years of common and personal memories accumulate and you are free to walk there, alone or with friends.

In memory of the good times

This experience, which looks like the beginning of a metaverse, offers you a virtual walk through several areas, dedicated to each Xbox console. Therefore, there are 4 different zones that gather all the most striking memories of each generation. For example, for the Xbox 360, you will be entitled to some memories of the launch of Xbox Live Arcade, or the Red Ring of Death, which still haunt gamers of the time.

But that’s not all, since Microsoft also bets on the nostalgic and personal side of Xbox. Before being a console, it mainly tells the story of gamers, children, adolescents or adults who have forged their own memories, and who have forgotten some. To remind you, Microsoft has planned a kind of hindsight through a series of unnecessary statistics, but interesting nonetheless.

This will help you remember which games you played the most each year for 20 years or what your first achievement badge was. Some collectibles also grace the walls and hallways, including some weapons or vehicles taken from the Halo franchise, which is also celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.

An easter egg we never expected

Among the memories of the area dedicated to the first Xbox, there is an interesting detail about the history of the company. Between the moment the console was approved and its construction financed, and the moment the first prototype was unveiled, we see a letter, written by Microsoft, at a time when the company was trying to buy … Nintendo.

We told you about it a few months ago and it is something that Microsoft fully assumes. It is part of their history, so there is no reason to hide it. However, we already know that the situation did not go according to plan at the time, and that Nintendo had literally laughed in the face of the company. To visit the Xbox Virtual Museum, go here. To sign in, all you need to do is sign in with your Microsoft account.
