Xbox Game Pass: a new free JRPG confirmed

Publisher Dear Villagers has announced that Astria Ascending, the new JRPG developed by Artisan Studios, will be released for Xbox One and Xbox Series X / S on September 30, 2021.

The video game, a collaboration between screenwriter Kazushige Nojima (Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy VII Remake) and composer Hitoshi Sakimoto (Final Fantasy XII, Vagrant Story), was announced last March during the Xbox Games Showcase, at the same time as the news of its release via the Xbox Game Pass service, for free on the first day.

Astria Ascending takes place in Orcanon, a magical world where nature is lush and generously dispenses its fruits to all the creatures that inhabit it, although there are harsh and inhospitable areas.

Among the different peoples that inhabit Orcanon, we find the Meryos, Peyskas, Zefts, Arktans and Awisis. Each of these peoples is characterized by a different appearance and culture from all the others. Of utmost importance are Mygmys, creatures that maintain the balance between species thanks to a fruit called Harmelon, which contains an essential ingredient.

Players will take control of the Demigods, whose task is to fight and defeat the Noises, mysterious monsters that threaten the balance of Orcanon and the people who live there. The Demigods are a group made up of 8 members of each people, all different from each other, with their own powers and abilities.

Each character will have a story, which will develop as you play and explore Orcanon, which includes 5 cities and 25 dungeons. Astria Ascending will require between 30 and 50 hours of play, each avatar will be customizable according to player preferences, and turn-based combat will give way to specific strategy patterns, enriched by the presence of a dynamic weather system and rich landscapes. and colorful.

As announced during the Xbox Games Showcase, Astria Ascending will be added to the Xbox Game Pass catalog for free from its launch date and, in addition to the Xbox One and Xbox Series X / S, will also be playable on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch.
