Xiaomi 11T Pro test: our opinion –

The Xiaomi 11T Pro is available from September € 669. The flagship of the Chinese brand, the 11T Pro must impress the crowd and for this it incorporates a new fast charging system that allows it to support a power of 120W to refuel in just 17 minutes. The rest of its datasheet is very promising with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC, a 120Hz AMOLED display, and a 108-megapixel main sensor.

Large Format

The 11T Pro competes in the heavyweight class with its dimensions of 164.1 x 76.9 x 8.8 mm and its weight of 204 g. To facilitate handling, Xiaomi has curved the edges of its smartphone. On the other hand, it provides it with a flat screen that preserves the seal of its predecessor, the My 10T Pro (refocused here). We were quite surprised to find the fingerprint reader on the on / off button rather than under the screen, but it’s no worse. unlocking is instantaneous. The photo module on the back obviously lacks discretion. and impacts the thickness of the terminal as well as its stability when placed on this face.

In addition, maniacs will live a real hell if they choose the “Comet Gray” version, our test model, since this one has a huge appetite for fingerprints. For the audio part, Xiaomi once again relies on Harman Kardon and places a speaker above and below the screen.

One billion colors

Xiaomi puts at your disposal a large 6.67-inch Full HD + screen in 20: 9 format. Technically updated, the panel combines AMOLED technology, 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, Dolby Vision, and HDR10 + in an attempt to impress us. Successful bet on this 11T Pro capable of displaying more than one billion colors compared to 16 million of the competition. Rendering is accurate, colorful, and bright regardless of viewing conditions..

We recommend opting for the “Vivid” color mode which adjusts the temperature according to the content and this is good as it is the default mode. Various features powered by artificial intelligence improve content quality: super resolution to increase video resolution, AI image enhancement, HDR, and MEMC AI enhancement.

We’d almost forget about Jack

The Xiaomi 11T Pro has a pair of stereo speakers that are as solid as the equipment of its predecessor. These two outputs offer clear and balanced sound even when the volume is turned up. Again, you have to dial without a mini-jack port, but wireless headphone owners will be happy to know that the flagship supports bluetooth 5.2 as well as all the usual codecs (aptx HD, SBC, AAC and LDAC). An audio equalizer is also available.

Ray of war

Like any high-end Android smartphone worth its salt, the Xiaomi 11T Pro has a processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. The powerful chip from the American foundry coexists with 8 GB of RAM.

AnTuTu, 3D Mark, PC Mark and Geekbench

In practice, this translates into fluency at all times. The 11T Pro can count on its high-end configuration to launch without complaining about the most popular 3D games of the moment like Genshin Impact or Fortnite.

A yes for MIUI

It is not surprising on the interface side that it results from the combination between MIUI 12.5 and Android 11. Xiaomi’s internal overlay continues to meet all of our customization expectations. Difficult to make more complete : dark mode, gesture navigation, split view, pop-up view, etc. Not to mention the various settings available for display and audio. MIUI is not exempt from all reproach.

There are still a lot of pre-installed applications and there is the security scan that is activated automatically after downloading an application. However, it is still possible to remove these applications and disable the antivirus.

One sensor to rule them all

The Xiaomi 11T Pro does not reinvent the wheel and largely takes over the equipment of the Mi 10T Pro. At the rear, we take advantage of the following three cameras:

  • 108 megapixel sensor with wide-angle lens aperture at f / 1.8
  • 8 megapixel sensor with ultra-wide lens aperture at f / 2.2
  • 5 megapixel sensor with af / 2.4 telemacro aperture

To try and capture as much light as possible with its main module, the 11T Pro uses pixel binning. So it combines 9 pixels and serves very bright 12 megapixel shots. Retouching enthusiasts can go through the 108 megapixel mode which, as the name suggests, allows for images of this definition. See for yourself sharpness is excellent and colors are outrageous. The blur covering the backgrounds is also very nice to see. Once night falls, we stay high-quality renderings even if the level of detail drops a bit.

No night mode

With night mode

The quality deteriorates a bit more with the ultra wide angle which finds it more difficult to manage brightness and is much less accurate than the 108 megapixel sensor (of course). This results in darker and messier shots, especially in low light.

The third module made available to us is a telemacro that allows us to quality close-ups on small subjects.

It can also be used as a telephoto lens with up to 10x digital zoom. We will avoid going beyond the 2x zoom to maintain a certain precision.

2x zoom

10x zoom

If you want to take a selfie, you can treat yourself with the services of 16 megapixel front sensor (f / 2.5). We draw pretty good selfies during the day but poor quality shots in the dark.

Portrait mode fights back by relying on the 108-megapixel main sensor. Be careful of overexposing the background with the front camera.

Finally, note that Xiaomi’s 11T Pro is capable of filming up to 8K at 30 fps.

Super fast charging

The 11T Pro is equipped a 5000 mAh battery allowing you to meet the expectations of the most greedy mobile users during a day and a half. You can use up to two days if you just scroll through social media, watch a few episodes of a series on Netflix, and send messages.

The most impressive thing about the 11T Pro is the duration of its cable charge. The Xiaomi flagship is indeed supplied with a 120W block. The manufacturer’s promise is: a full charge in 17 minutes. In fact, we notice 22 minutes. A commendable performance even if it does not correspond to the value indicated by the manufacturer.

One point to the competition

The Xiaomi 11T Pro faces the Asus ZenFone 8 (€ 699) and the OnePlus 9 (€ 649). Asus manages to offer us a compact smartphone with a high-end technical sheet and decent autonomy. On the other hand, the OnePlus 9 is more durable but its format is more standard.

conclusion

It’s undeniable, the 11T Pro represents the brand’s DNA by displaying There is a good quality price relation.. In a sector quite crowded by the competition, this smartphone has no problem finding its place. It ticks many boxes: good quality large screen, superior performance, neat and customizable end-to-end interface, satisfying autonomy, and ultra-fast charging. But once again, the flagship of the T range is far from being one of the best cameras on the market. If the 108-megapixel module still has its effect, the other sensors are lagging behind. The Xiaomi 11T Pro is, however, a smartphone full of arguments that has nothing to envy its little playmates.
