If some Xiaomi phone models are only marketed in China, some of them, however, have features that give an overview of what could land in the next smartphones destined for the international market. Therefore, the local launch date of Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro was officially announced by the manufacturer on December 28. This range stands out in particular for its ultra-fast charging capacity (120W) and the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset.
Like many recent phone lines, the Xiaomi 12 is available in several models: here the Xiaomi 12, the Xiaomi 12 Pro. These smartphones have a range of 8G to 12G of RAM that can support a transfer rate of 6400 Mbps. equipped with a more efficient cooling system than in the previous range, in order to guarantee the correct operation of the devices, and the sound level, of the dual speakers compatible with Dolby Atmos technology.
Both phones have displays with 120 Hz refresh rates. The 12 features a 6.28-inch OLED with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels. The Pro has a 6.73-inch 2K display, with a resolution of 3200×1440 pixels. Both are compatible with HDR10 Plus and Dolby Vision formats.
Apart from these improvements, the big news is the ultra-fast charging capacity of 120W of the Xiaomi 12 Pro. For comparison, the phone with the record charging time until then was the OnePlus 9 Pro (65W), which increased the battery of the device from 1% to maximum in 29 minutes.
The charger of the Xiaomi 12 Pro would then exceed the capabilities of the OnePlus 9 Pro as well as many of those of Apple’s MacBook Pro (67W to 96W). To its coupling with a 4600 mAh battery from the 12 Pro.
On the photography side, Xiaomi boasts of the sensing capabilities the range is equipped with. In fact, these smartphones could identify human eyes, silhouettes, and pets using visual tracking to help stabilize and focus photos. The Xiaomi 12 has a Sony IMX766 main camera, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 5-megapixel telemacro camera. The 12 Pro uses a triple camera each with 50 megapixel lenses, the main one being the Sony IMX707. The Chinese manufacturer claims that the 12 Pro’s camera settings particularly show its effectiveness when shooting in low light and in night mode.
The two phones are scheduled to launch on December 31 in China, with the Xiaomi 12 starting at RMB 3,699 (or € 511) and the 12 Pro starting at RMB 4,699 (or around € 652).
