Xiaomi 12 potential release date, design, specs, price and more

The Xiaomi 12 could be the dark horse of the Android flagship phones of 2021 or early 2022. Even if it doesn’t make it to the US (and there’s no sign that it will), this will deliver to other users around the world. a well-specified rival to premium phones from Samsung, OnePlus, and others.

While the launch could take place in a few weeks, we probably won’t see it outside of China for a while longer. Until that happens, or Xiaomi at least confirms the existence of the phone and its specifications, you can read our roundup of what has been proposed for the Xiaomi 12 below.

However, it looks like the Xiaomi 12 could arrive in late 2021 (it’s December at the time of writing) or early 2022, most likely in the first quarter, potentially ready to hit the heels of the rumored Samsung Galaxy S22. So, with that in mind, read on to learn everything we know so far about the Xiaomi 12.

Xiaomi potential release date 12

As mentioned, the Xiaomi 12 should arrive by the end of the year, or early 2022 at the latest.

Its predecessor, the Xiaomi Mi 11, was launched at the end of December 2020, so we should expect a similar moment for the 12th of this year. However, it may not go on sale outside of China until March 2022, as Xiaomi did this with the Mi 11. The company has a habit of launching its phones for its local market first and then globally quite a bit more. late.

Price Xiaomi 12

We anticipate that the Xiaomi 12 will come with a flagship grade price. The Xiaomi Mi 11 retails for £ 749, which while slightly cheaper than a Samsung Galaxy S21 or iPhone 13 doesn’t make much of a difference when paid monthly as part of a phone contract.

The Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra, on the other hand, retails for £ 1,199, which is slightly more expensive than the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra or iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Xiaomi Design 12

One of the most notable potential changes to the Xiaomi 12 is that it could use an under-display selfie camera. This is still a rare feature found only on a couple of phones, but it’s not unreasonable to believe that it’s about to hit the major flagship phones.

However, we have also had other leaks that say there will be a notch like the one on the Mi 11. If Xiaomi wants to focus on the overall quality of the photo, keeping the hole drilled is a good decision.

We would expect the display to stay large – the Mi 11 series used 6.8-inch AMOLED panels. What could be new, however, is the introduction of an LTPO display (via MyDrivers), which would give the 12 series a fully variable 120Hz refresh rate like the Galaxy S21 Ultra or OnePlus 9 Pro, rather than the adaptive preset refresh rates that the Mi 11 Series used.

On the back of the phone, there is a possibility that Xiaomi will fit 12, with a huge 200MP camera, at least according to Weibo’s digital chat station. This sensor may even be the Samsung ISOCELL HP1 that was recently announced. This could end up reserved for the 12 Ultra only (as DCS later claimed), or for the entry-level or Pro models, while the Ultra gets something else entirely.

The reason we expect a two-tier system is because another rumor from the same source claims that there could be a 12-series model with three 50MP sensors, one of which will be a telephoto camera with a periscope. This roughly matches the camera specs of the Mi 11 Ultra, so we might expect this model to be the 12 Ultra.

However, the 12 Ultra may lose out on the second rear display that defined the 11 Ultra. Or so says the leaker Digital Chat Station. You could get Leica-tuned lenses though, given that Xiaomi and Leica have announced a partnership (via Digital Chat Station and GSMArena).

You’ll see this, along with the new circular-shaped camera bump with all of its many sensors, in these renders. It’s not sure what all the cameras will do yet, but the Xiaomi 12 Ultra will certainly be packed with camera options in one form or another.

A new batch of claimed leaked renders shows how the standard Xiaomi 12 will look more understated than its Ultra sibling. But that’s not bad as the refined look is definitely very attractive to our eyes. There’s a lot to be said for a fancy phone that you don’t want to yell at about its design quirks.

Rumored Xiaomi Specifications 12

Inside, the Xiaomi 12 has been confirmed as one of the first smartphones to use the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, which was formally thought to be called the Snapdragon 888. Built on a 4-nanometer process node, in compared to the Snapdragon In the process of 5nmn of 888, we expect to see improvements in performance and efficiency. But more significantly, we expect to see improved features facilitated by the new silicon slice, such as 80W load, 8K HDR video capture, and better game mode attributes.

Joining that chip could be the latest in smartphone memory: LPDDR5X RAM. A report from MyDrivers claims that this faster memory will be installed in the 12 series.

We should expect a fast charge of some kind for the Xiaomi 12, although exactly how fast remains to be seen. The current line of the Mi 11 charges at 55 W wired and 50 W wireless, while the Mi 11 Ultra charges at 67 W wired and wirelessly. This is fast enough already, but it could be faster.

The only rumor we’ve heard about it is that Xiaomi will stick with the 67W wired charging, instead of using the 120W charging that debuted on the Xiaomi 11T Pro. It’s a shame as it’s the charging phone. faster than we’ve tested, so that would have been a great sales pitch.

The battery, according to this rumor, will start at a rather small 4,500 mAh, a reduction from the Xiaomi Mi 11. We can only hope that the Xiaomi 12 will still deliver great battery life even without the extra capacity.

Xiaomi Panorama 12

Following the information tidbits so far, the Xiaomi 12 could be a pretty impressive piece of phone hardware. The Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra impressed, so we hope its successor will do the same.

And it will have to. As we’ve seen with models like the Galaxy S21 and iPhone 12, some flagship phones are below the $ 1,000 mark, meaning those who want to compete with the big names will have to offer serious hardware or smart features. But so far it seems that the Xiaomi 12 has a lot of potential.
