Madden 23: How to jam and dodge QB

Passing games aren’t always successful in either the NFL or Madden 23. Sometimes the defense calls for better play, or the X-Factors and Superstars on the other side of the ball use their abilities to overpower the liners to get to the rear. You need to know how to climb and slide with your quarterback to keep the game going.

To silence Madden 23, hit the ball while holding R2/RT. Your QB will run in the direction you hold the left stick. You can still shoot at receivers as long as you are in the outfield. Some players, such as Patrick Mahomes, have abilities that increase their accuracy while running. Others, like Dak Prescott, are cool in the pocket, which makes them immune to pressure on the run.

To dodge QB, cross the line of scrimmage and press “Square” on PlayStation and X on Xbox. You can do this by climbing or sprinting (holding R2/RT) or just naturally back into the pocket and cross the line of scrimmage where your QB will start working automatically. Don’t hold square or X, however, or your QB will dive.

You will know you have passed the line of scrimmage when the receiver icons disappear and the camera zooms in on the quarterback.

Just like in Madden 22, you can also slide with other positional players in Madden 23, including wide receivers, running backs and tight ends. The same rules apply to these players: Press Square on PlayStation and X on Xbox while running or running. Diving can be useful for getting past a defender into the end zone or past the stick, but sliding ensures the clock keeps ticking, your players don’t get hurt and you protect football.

As always, it’s worth practicing scrambling and sliding in the Learn to Team Up zone before trying both with QB in a real game. dive; by itself, the double-tap does nothing, but the movement ensures that you don’t hold down the button and accidentally dive.
