Blue Box Game Studios had promised to reveal Abandoned on June 20. Then, he had postponed the event to the 25th. And now, he says he waits until August.
It’s one of the biggest mysteries right now: what is Blue Box Game, the studio behind Abandoned, hiding? This is a strange title, coming from an unknown team. And yet, he feeds great fantasies. The whole Internet is investigating this title. And all the tracks lead to Hideo Kojima and Silent Hill.
Abandoned pushes back its PS5 app
It all started on April 7, 2021. On the PlayStation Blog, Blue Box Game Studios formalized Abandoned. Hasan Karahman, the director, then evokes a game with little advanced development, and yet planned for this end of the year. Abandoned must take the form of a first person survival game. He wants to offer realistic graphics, smooth animations thanks to motion capture, and 60FPS. Also on the program, the absence of an interface for a most cinematic experience.
The most astonishing thing about this announcement was that Sony agreed to put forward such a game and such a team. After all, they only have one failed Kickstarter to their credit.
The PlayStation Blog post also included this trailer. This one does not show much, except wooded environments.
Shortly after, Blue Box promised to release a dedicated PS5 application for this game - a sort of HUB that would concentrate all the essential information. Again it was surprising because it has never been done.
Its release was then stalled for June 20. Then she was postponed for a few days.
On Friday June 25, at 4 p.m., Hasan Karahman spoke on Twitter. He finally announced the postponement of the application to August. This will therefore arrive at the same time as the first real trailer for the game.
The director also takes the opportunity to apologize for the delay. He adds that the last two weeks have been trying. It must be said that the entire internet is on its tail. Maybe it’s really just a simple independent studio. But for many, in the shadows, it is Hideo Kojima who would pull the strings.
Is Abandoned the next Silent Hill by Hideo Kojima?
There are many rumors around Silent Hill. Konami may deny them, we see them constantly reappearing.
Last I heard, Abandoned could be the next Silent Hill. We use the conditional because nothing is certain. The clues are troubling, however. On Reddit, there is a recap ‘of all the elements. Some make you smile, others think.
Hasan Karahman and Hideo Kojima thus share the same initials. And more. Hideo means Hero, in Japanese. In Turkish, it is called Karahman.
However, Hasan is not an actor or a simple invention. It really exists. He would have a PSN profile responding to the nickname SneakyWarrior. On this account, he would have played Demon Blood and Abandoned: Trailers, two games that are not on the PlayStation Store. Or at least not accessible to the public.
He would also have a total of 1238 trophies. However, in the past, Silent Hill inherited an ad subtitled 1238. We also note that his personal YouTube channel is called TwentySeven; Silent Hills was canceled on April 27. On the Abandoned teaser, we notice that at the 49th second, the letters P and T are hidden by a tree; PT was the demo of Silent Hills…
We could also evoke a studio whose members refuse to put their photos on LinkedIn; a YouTube channel with no content, but with valleys (Hills) background ; Blue Box Game Studios, a brand that has never been registered …
But maybe he’s just an overwhelmed developer. After all, his accounts and activities date back to 2015. It’s hard to imagine that all this teasing has been in the works for 6 years …
Blue Box also played with fire. Before deleting his tweet, he said that Abandoned was just a code name. The final name would begin with an S and end with an L… What further fuel the Silent Hill rumors.
Blue Box has since declared that it does not work with Konami or Kojima. But it refuses to be more transparent about its funding or its development teams. We hope to know more next August, perhaps at Gamescom. And if Abandoned isn’t a new Silent Hill, we wish him well. Many influencers and journalists have shared these rumors. Everyone gave their own opinion, even if it meant raising the hype. The question now is whether Blue Box will have the shoulders strong enough to withstand such pressure and this senseless expectation.
