“His Dark Parts” on OCS: What’s Season 3 Worth?

Talking animals, angels, people traveling between worlds, religious cults that serve primarily to oppress the population… You’re welcome in “His Dark Beginnings: At the Crossroads of Worlds,” the film adaptation of Philip Pullman’s fantasy literary trilogy. , who directed this new version, after the failure experienced by the film version in 2007. And now it’s time for the third and final season, which has just begun airing on OCS.

It’s been two years now, the delay due to the pandemic that fans have been waiting for. Because the second season managed to successfully replicate the ingredients of the first - great sets, very successful special effects, amazing actors, including the young Daphne Keen already seen in Logan (2017) - while raising the stakes even more.

Space trip, waiting for the great battle

Outside the world of the Magisterium, a parallel Earth marked by technological development is stuck in our 19th century equivalent, but where the magic that served as the basis at the beginning of the story is at work, the characters have also taken us through other universes, including our own planet or the mysterious city of Chitagazze . And we realized that the fight against the Magisterium was just one facet of a much larger fight in different dimensions.

The space trip continues from the first episode of season 3, Will (Amir Wilson), the male protagonist, is in search of Lila, the heroine (Daphne Keene) who has been kidnapped by her own mother, the evil Mrs. Coulter (Ruth Wilson). He himself is pursued by strange creatures, angels, who seem to be not enemies. Meanwhile, Lord Asriel (James McAvoy), Laila’s father, is trying to recruit allies in his fight against the Magisterium and all its parallel Earth equivalents…

So the first two episodes are a tempting appetizer with the introduction of new characters as well as the return of more established ones. Long intro without much action, probably reserved for future episodes when the mother of all battles is launched… Obviously, the best is yet to come!

Editor’s note:

“His Dark Beginnings” British fantasy series by Philip Pullman with Dafne Keen, Ruth Wilson, Amir Wilson, James McAvoy… Season 3 episodes 1 and 2/8 (2 x 55 min). Two new episodes per week.
