What is a TOC report?
The Commitments of Traders report, or COT, is a weekly publication that shows the combined holdings of various participants in the US futures market. It provides a snapshot of trading commitments as of Tuesday this week to improve trade transparency.
COT reports are used in all markets, so you can get reports on Forex, Gold, Indices and more.
How to read a trader’s commitment report?
The Commitment of Traders report is read in the form of tables, where each row indicates the market, and each column indicates open interest, long and short positions. You will also be able to see which participants have taken a position, including dealers, institutions or funds.
COT is a key data source for traders as it can provide guidance on whether to go long or short in each market.
What is the deadline for publishing the COT report?
The COT report is released every Friday at 3:30 pm EST on the CFTC website. On Sunday evenings, we publish up-to-date COT reports so you can get expert analysis every week as quickly as possible.
