Leaked Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra promo video shows 200MP and ‘all day battery’ right before unboxing

We’re only hours away from Samsung Unpacked 2023, but it’s never too late for a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra leak.

Samson Update User (will open in a new tab) took to Twitter this morning to share a Galaxy S23 Ultra promotional video that appears to be from Samsung and AT&T. It’s impossible to say for sure, especially since it seems that the original video was first posted on Weibo and then posted again on Twitter by SamsonUpdate, but there is plenty of evidence that this is the official video that has been leaked.

To learn more

First, the font used in this video matches the font Samsung uses in their marketing materials. While it’s not impossible to reproduce, it’s a good sign that this is an official advertisement from Samsung. Secondly, the phone’s design and specs are largely in line with what we’d expect from the Galaxy S23 Ultra when it’s officially announced today. If the specs didn’t match, it would be easy to discredit the video. But again, nothing out of the ordinary on that front.

Speaking of specs, we’ve covered quite a bit in the promotional video. There is a 200-megapixel camera – as we expected some time ago. The video also advertises a 10x optical zoom that has been rumored for some time and will match the optical zoom on the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra.

However, the video mentions some interesting updates. While claiming to have the fastest processor in a Galaxy phone isn’t a shock considering we expect “Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy” to debut in the S23 lineup. However, it looks like this will also result in an increase in GPU performance over the Galaxy S22 Ultra. There have been rumors about this graphics performance boost, but it looks like Samsung will confirm that it could be a phone for mobile gamers.

The video also caused a couple of surprises. First, it promotes the 12-megapixel selfie camera that we’ve heard could be a potential downside for the Galaxy S23 Ultra, while also touting its improved low-light performance. This means that what seemed like a downgrade on paper could actually be a boost for Samsung’s new flagship phone.

The video also claims that the Galaxy S23 Ultra can last over 24 hours on a single charge and has a built-in S Pen with email-to-text capability in more apps than ever, including Gmail. That battery life may be what gives users the ability to “record up to 13 hours of 8K video”, which is pretty amazing.

However, this video has small print that we couldn’t make out due to video compression. So it’s important to take these claims with a pinch of salt until Samsung develops them. One such statement that can change? The video says the Galaxy 23 Ultra has up to 512GB of storage. However, we have seen leaked specs from Samsung’s own website claiming it could have up to 1TB of storage. The small print is clearly visible at the bottom of the video in this part of the clip, so again, take these claims with a pinch of salt.

However, if this video is true, the Galaxy S23 Ultra promises to be a flagship phone worthy of the name. We’ll find out soon enough.
