The latest batch of free games for PlayStation Plus members is now available. The February PS Plus Essential lineup includes OlliOlli World, Evil Dead: The Game, Mafia: Definitive Edition, and Destiny 2: Beyond Light. New gifts can be received until March 6th.
The February lineup is pretty unique in terms of the number of games. For the past two years, the norm has been three games a month. February brings back four freebies, but we don’t expect this to become the norm.
It is likely that an exception to this rule was made due to the imminent launch of Destiny 2: Lightfall, a brand new major expansion that will be released on February 28th. With that in mind, PlayStation is giving away Destiny 2: Beyond Light, an expansion that will release in 2020. If you’re new to Destiny 2, you can download the base game for free, then check out Beyond Light to see if you’re interested in other Destiny 2 expansions. The PS5 and PS4 versions of Beyond Light will be free.
If you missed OlliOlli World when it launched last year, you should definitely check it out via PlayStation Plus. This side-scrolling skateboard game has fast-paced action. sleek knobs and an eclectic assortment of levels and challenges. It got 9/10 in our OlliOlli World review.
Meanwhile, Evil Dead is an online survival horror game that fits into the ever-evolving genre of asymmetrical multiplayer games. It was released last year to generally positive reviews, so it might be a good fit if you’re looking for a new game to play with your friends.
For those who love the open world atmosphere but find there is sometimes something to do, Mafia: Definitive Edition will be refreshing. An epic remake of the 2002 original, Mafia: Definitive Edition takes a streamlined open world approach as it focuses solely on story missions scattered around the world.
PlayStation also announced that the PS Plus Collection subscription will end on May 9th. The PlayStation Plus Collection has given PS5 users access to a library of PS4 hits like God of War and Bloodborne since the console’s launch. However, if you claim games on your PS5 before May 9th, members will still be able to play games from the PS Plus collection.
