The 33-year-old was convicted last July but decided to appeal the verdict. The court then heard that the anonymous defendant had assaulted his (also unnamed) mistress (she is 20) in November 2021 while under the influence of drugs. The man’s mistress, according to the court, turned to the CEO, stating that she wanted to break off their relationship.

Newspim reported that the CEO’s legal team argued for a reclassification of the crime as manslaughter, stating that he was “mentally and physically weak” at the time of the crime and told the court that he had “long-term treatment with a psychiatrist.”

“He was undergoing psychiatric treatment,” the defense said, with the CEO “complaining of lethargy and expressing difficulty in controlling his impulses.”

But the judge of the Seoul High Court of Appeal denied the request. He did say that the CEO was in the “virtual currency at the time of crime” business.

The judge said:

“It appears that the defendant had normal judgmental skills in relation to his work in the cryptocurrency industry.”

The court also heard evidence that the man attacked his lover with a knife before finally pushing her to her death by repeatedly stabbing her.

First, the CEO attacked the woman with a knife. But when she screamed during the horrific attack, he pulled her to the window “so people wouldn’t understand what he was doing.” He then pushed her out of the window, with the express purpose of making her death look like an accident.

Why did the court reject the exchange CEO’s appeal?

“The accused was in complete control of his actions during the incident. It does not appear that his actions were in any way disturbed by his mental or physical condition. The crime committed by the defendant is murder and punishment must be imposed. heavy.”

The CEO was also fined $2,350. The court also learned that the man had developed a “serious” drug addiction and was taking drugs, including ketamine.
