The Video Game Fair arrives in Granby - Le Granby Express

EVENT. Enthusiasts of all ages are invited to the first Granby video game fair at Notre Dame Center on December 10th. This free event is co-hosted by Vie Culturelle et communautaire de Granby, the City of Granby and the Young Ambassadors of Granby (JAG).

The fair will be organized in four thematic zones to delight fans of games and consoles. In the Retro Zone, fans will be able to discover and rediscover great classics, while the Modern Zone will feature next-gen consoles such as the Xbox, PlayStation 5 or Nintendo Switch. A virtual reality area will also be installed to provide augmented reality for video games. Finally, in the kiosk area, video game companies and organizations will be able to answer users’ questions and offer them products related to their favorite games and characters.

Players will be able to play multiple games on different consoles and attend animations as well as a video game making conference. The conference will be hosted by the team at Triple-Boris, an independent studio that specializes in the development of multi-platform video games and digital experiences, as well as outsourcing to major studios.

Participants will also have the opportunity to take part in “speedruns”. This is the practice of a player demonstrating their full talent and experience by completing a game (often a classic, such as Super Mario 64) in record time. Interested parties will also have the opportunity to compete against each other in two tournaments: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (11:30) and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (19:30). All you have to do is register at GameStop or the Tanuki Lounge and bring your controller to participate.

The fair will be held in the center of Notre Dame (rue Principal, 270) from 10:00 to 24:00. Please note that from 18:30 to midnight, the event will be more dedicated to people over 18 years old.
