Released at the end of 2015, the first Xbox Elite controller convinced us despite the very high price of 150 euros. Almost 4 years later, the Elite Series 2 comes out, its replacement. Even more expensive (180 €), it’s even better.

- Accuracy and Responsiveness
- Personalization and configuration
- Design and ergonomics
Even more advanced than the first Elite controller, this Xbox Elite Series 2 has just about everything the last controller had. We could have wished for more responsive main buttons, but in terms of usability, precision, and customization, you just can’t get better. Unfortunately, it is very expensive for its services, but it is the best gamepad at the moment, without a doubt.
Strengths
- Excellent workmanship and comfortable handle.
- Wireless operation with low latency.
- Built-in battery and magnetic charging stand included.
- Pallets are available without getting in the way.
- Analog stick accuracy.
- Replaceable caps for sticks.
- The trigger travel is adjustable in 3 levels.
- Well-designed directional cross and disc.
- Complete setup software for Windows 10 and Xbox One.
Weak points
- The A, B, X and Y buttons could be even more responsive.
- Programmed stick travel that does not automatically adapt to the mechanical settings selected on the back of the controller.
- Non-removable battery.

In the absence of a very noticeable technological evolution in the transition to the Xbox Series generation, the Xbox controller remains an excellent game controller that we have enjoyed for years on Xbox One and PC. Admittedly, Microsoft’s rather timid development further enhances comfort and precision, which is enough to make this new Xbox series controller the benchmark in the field. However, we remain unhappy with the built-in vibration technologies that would benefit from those used by Nintendo and Sony on their respective official controllers.
